Windsor pays 10 for historic downtown building to become the library central branch
The official handover ceremony of the Paul Martin Building from the federal government to the City of Windsor is complete.
The event was held in the grand, marble lined, entry hall of the six story downtown landmark.
The federal government was represented by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Service and Procurement, Steve MacKinnon.
He remarked on the history of Windsor's connection to the politician the building is named for.
MacKinnon says the federal government made sure there was a public role for the building.
"We're very happy to know that this building, beautiful as it is, will continue to have a public use and will continue to serve the people of this region going forward"
He says the city paid $10 to the federal government for the building.
