An event in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association is underway in Windsor.
Called 'Wellness Wednesdays,' it's a partnership between the City of Windsor and Caesars Windsor. Staff are encouraged to get out and get some fresh air and exercise at lunchtime on Wednesdays, walking from Charles Clark Square to the Riverfront Festival Plaza and back.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says it's become a popular thing for staff to do.
"Every year we have a good group of staff members from Caesars Windsor, Caesars Windsor Cares, the City of Windsor and others who join in and say 'lets go out every Wednesday, make it a point to get some exercise and they go out on the waterfront.' They do a walk for about 30 to 40 minutes, eat their lunch and return to work," he says.
Caesars Vice President of Human Resources, Kelly Gregoire says it gives employees a positive break.
"We've been partnering with the City of Windsor as one of the top employers in the city, downtown Windsor area for the last number of years," says Gregoire. "Really just focusing on wellness and our staff, taking a moment to get outside breathe and enjoy our beautiful waterfront and focus on our own mental health."
