Three people have been arrested as Windsor police continue to investigate the latest incident involving gunfire in a city neighbourhood.
Police say officers were called to the 1600 block of Drouillard Rd. around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday for a report of shots fired.
Witnesses told police they heard what sounded like gunfire, and officers located a number of spent bullet casings in the area.
No injuries were reported but police blocked off a large area on Drouillard Rd. for about five hours as members of the Forensic Identification Unit processed the scene.
Police say they obtained a description of a suspect vehicle and it was located shortly before 10 a.m. parked and unoccupied in a lot near Walker Road and Division Rd.
The vehicle was seized and police say their investigation led officers to the Travelodge hotel on Division Rd, where three adults, two men and one woman were arrested.
Sgt. Steve Betteridge says this is a very active investigation lead by the Major Crimes Branch.
"It's extremely serious, anytime we have gun fire in our city," says Betteridge.
He says each case is unique but for this investigation a lot of information was coming in quite quickly.
"Meaning the initial report that came in of gun fire, some excellent and very useful information from witnesses about suspect description, mainly the vehicle, then being able to locate that vehicle and carrying the investigation on from there," says Betteridge.
Police are not releasing the names of the suspects and are not commenting on a motive or if a weapon has been recovered.
The matter remains under active investigation by the Major Crimes Branch.
Three people were also arrested after a report of shots fired in the area of Mercer St. and Elliott St E. last Wednesday.
