The Windsor Spitfires have announced a changing of the guard.
"Today we're announcing with a bit of a tear in our eyes, the retirement of Warren Rychel," says Spitfires Co-Owner John Savage. "The storied General Manager for the Windsor Spitfires."
General Manager Warren Rychel is retiring and has sold his minority interest in the team.
He has been the general manager since 2006 and was the architect of three Memorial Cup championships.
Savage says Rychel has done a lot for the team and community.
"We're very pleased and happy for what he's done over the last 13-years," says Savage. "You know over 500 games that he's won, three Memorial Cups in less than nine years, nobody else has done that in the industry. He's left his mark on this club forever."
