Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs believes the success behind the new trade agreement with the U.S and Mexico was a 'strong team Canada approach.'
Chrystia Freeland met with Unifor members in Windsor on Tuesday, November 13 to discuss the new USMCA agreement and how it benefits the auto industry.
She thanked the union and its national President Jerry Dias for being in the tough negotiations saying it really did help and coming together as a country made a huge difference.
"The big advantage our country had, is we had a real Team Canada approach," she says. "We had labour, we had business, we had government, we had indigenous people, we had strong cross party support."
The USMCA deal was reached September 30.
Freeland also met with University of Windsor engineering students Tuesday morning.
