A suspended Chatham-Kent police sergeant has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to fraud.
According to CTV Wndsor, Robert Mugridge, 52, will be allowed to serve his sentence on weekends, followed by probation for three years.
He had originally been charged with over 50 counts of fraud over $5,000 relating to soliciting loans from friends, co-workers and family.
In addition to the jail sentence, he must also repay the $162,000 he owes within 12 years.
He had been suspended for the Chatham-Kent police force since 2014.
He told the court, “I’m incredibly sorry for the way things turned out. I plan on paying everyone back."
