A Windsor fundraiser to support suicide prevention and bereavement programs has surpassed its goal.
The third annual Cainerfest raised $15,500, about $5000 more than its goal.
The event is in honour of Jordan "Cainer" Caine, who died by suicide on August 13, 2014 at the age of 27.
"We are here not only to memorialize Jordan but for other people who have lost a loved one to suicide," says Cainerfest Organizer Andrea Milne.
"It is very important because there is not enough community programs and resources out there. The wait times for somebody to get help especially if they have feelings of committing suicide, the waits are too long."
She says it is about a six month wait to see a psychiatrist to get properly diagnosed which she says is too long if someone is having suicidal thoughts.
In the past three years, the event has raised a total of $31, 000.
