The Windsor Spitfires have made the decision as to who starts in net for Game 1 of their best-of-seven OHL playoff series against the London Knights.
Kari Piiroinen is the choice to backstop the Spitfires in the opening game.
He says it's a whole new experience for him to play his first playoff game.
Piiroinen explains his reaction on being told he would get the start.
"First, just feel happy and get like coach's confidence in you and just feel really confident"
He says he is anxious to get the feel of the puck in the early minutes of the game.
"Yeah of course, every game you want to feel the puck early and just get shots in but it doesn't really matter what kind of team is there, just play my own game"
Piiroinen says joining the team and making his first start when the team was struggling helped him deal with adversity.
Head Coach Trevor Letowski says it was not a simple choice to go with Piiroinen.
"Real difficult decision for us, but just looking back at the previous handful of games, five or six starts for each of them, we just felt Kari's been better recently"
Game 1 in the series is Friday night.
AM800's coverage of the game with Manny Paiva starts after the 7 p.m. news update, with the drop of the puck at 7:30 p.m.
