Meet Your Muslim Neighbour was the theme of an open house held at the Baitul Ehsan Mosque in south Walkerville on Head Ave. near Kildare Rd. over the weekend.
The former St. Andrews Catholic School has new life as a Muslim community centre and the Ahmadiyya Muslim community opened their doors on Saturday to answer any questions their neighbours might have about their faith.
Tim Sellan has not only lived in the area for 61 years, but he attended the school his father designed back in 1957.
Sellan tells AM800 News reaching out to the community goes a long way.
"This is excellent. We really need to build more common understanding of people from an Islamic background because there's a lot of misinformation," he says. "The people from this group are very community oriented and they're real assets for the local community and for Windsor as a whole."
He says it's good to see the building find new life with a group that wants to make the neighbourhood a better place.
