The 150,000 greenhouse will provide agricultural therapy

The Regional Children's Centre has a new garden tool to help children.

It has officially opened the Rotary Children's Greenhouse to teach children in the program how to grow plants.

Centre Operations Manager Renee Gilliam says growing plants is therapeutic, it teaches children about patience and helps them gain confidence.

She says the program provided in the greenhouse will help its current program to grow.

"There is a level of self-confidence that comes when you can produce something," she says. "The fact that they can produce something they can eat or see or take home to enjoy brings a real sense of accomplishment."

The Rotary Club of Windsor-St.Clair donated $150,000 to build the greenhouse which will see about 60 children at a time from the ages of 6 to 12.

Children at the centre are treated for social, emotional or behaviour issues.
