Las Vegas police said they have reopened a criminal case against Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is being sued by a woman who claimed the international soccer star sexually assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

Las Vegas police said they have re-opened a criminal case against Ronaldo upon a request last month from the woman's attorney.

The suit also accused Ronaldo's representatives of coercing the alleged victim into an agreement in which she was paid $375,000 to not cooperate with the initial investigation.

Ronaldo responded to the charges by referring to them as "fake news" in an Instagram video.
