A section of Riverside Dr. E. in Windsor will be closing Monday for the next three months.
Riverside Dr. E. will close between Lauzon Rd. to Solidarity Tower for on-going work as part of the $6.3-million Riverside Vista Project.
Work is resuming on a section of the roadway between Lauzon Rd. and Dieppe St., a continuation of the first phase of the work that started in 2018. New construction is starting between Dieppe and Solidarity Tower.
City of Windsor Senior Engineer Anna Godo says the work will rebuild all the underground and road infrastructure with new watermains and sewer reconstruction taking place.
"They'll be maintaining local traffic but there'll be a section of the road that is impassable, so you won't be able to drive through," says Godo.
Signs are up to announce closures and detours around the construction. Transit Windsor buses will also be detoured.
Godo says the next phase of the project is still some time off.
"We have another section which is currently in the design phase and we'll be having a meeting regarding the section from Ford to St. Rose in April. We're in the design phase for that so construction is still a couple of years away," she says.
