A 20-year-old Windsor man has been sentenced in the death of a man who fell from a motel balcony a year ago.
Robert Legebow pleaded guilty in August in the death of 36-year-old Shawn Liddell who died after falling from a second floor balcony at the Ivy Rose hotel in October 2018.
According to CTV Windsor, Legebow was sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars in court on Tuesday.
With time already served waiting for the trial he now has 23 months left.
The two men had been in a "scuffle" on the threshold of their room, before Liddell grabbed Legebow by the arm, who in turn, pushed him in the chest.
Liddell fell "backwards over the second story railing" explained Justice Michelin Rawlins.
The Judge conceded Legebow had no "intention to kill Shawn Liddell" but his death has had a "catastrophic" impact on his entire family.
Legebow told Rawlins "you will never see me before this court again" after apologizing to the Liddell family.
Defence lawyer Elizabeth Craig says the sentence will be served at a "reformatory" as opposed to jail or prison.
