There is something new in Windsor-Essex for automation companies.
On Wednesday, the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation, along with its partners, unveiled a new Virtual Reality Cave.
The cave will assist small and medium size companies that focus on autonomous vehicle technologies.
Raed Kadri is the Director of Automotive Technology and Mobility Innovation for the Ontario Centres of Excellence.
He says the cave is a very important piece of the autonomous vehicle innovation network.
"This VR Cave will be a tool as apart of other resources in the community that have been knitted together through this program in Avin to bring together those resources for small-medium size enterprises to build new technologies, create jobs," says Kadri.
Kadri says the VR cave is part of the Regional Technology Development Site in Windsor-Essex.
"The Regional Technology Development Site program is six regional notes that group together regional assets, resources and equipment that can be used to support small medium size enterprises to commercialize new technology, remove barriers to innovation so that they can create jobs and create products that go in the globally market," says Kadri.
He says the cave will act as a tool for simulation.
"It's an opportunity in a VR environment for small and medium size enterprise to test out their technology and validate their technology before they go and speak to their customer," says Kadri. "So it's a very important tool as a multitude tools that are available to these small medium size enterprises so they can actually deliver to their customer what their asking for."
The VR Cave is located at the Institute for Border Logistics and Security building on Wheelton Dr. near Rhodes Dr.
