The newly created Problem Oriented Policing Unit appears to be making a difference in Windsor's downtown.
When the additional 12 officers were approved there was a requirement to report back on the statistics for the first three months.
Deputy Police Chief Brad Hill says they've also released the stats from the City Centre Patrol unit based at the casino.
He says the two units work together and have been kept busy.
"Between our POP unit and our CPP unit based out of the casino and directed patrol or our city centre patrol, we've made over 400 arrests in the first three months of 2019 so it's certainly substantial from what it was a year ago"
Dep. Chief Hill says more than 400 arrests have been made and in addition 357 arrest warrants were executed.
"I believe we're making an impact, we've had a lot of very positive comments form community members in regards to seeing police officers downtown and seeing them downtown the casino's quite happy with our response there. The new Canadian Centre has commented several times about our response there So I think we've had very good success in the downtown and I'm hoping it's making a difference and I'm hoping people are seeing that"
He says because drug activity is behind a lot of property crime, that unit has also been busy.
Windsor Council has approved an additional 12 officers for the POP unit, but they are still in training.
