Ontario's Minister of Children, Community and Social Services is touring a number of Windsor facilities and meeting local politicians.
Lisa MacLeod visited Hiatus House, the Unemployed Help Centre and Community Living.
She also participated in round table discussion that included several Windsor Councillors and Essex Warden Gary McNamara.
MacLeod addressed the closing of Independent Facilitation that helps people with autism navigate their lives.
"That was cancelled by the previous Liberal administration who didn't put money in the budget, so that pre-dates my time as minister. What I can tell you is that as we move forward we want to make sure there are more supports for those with autism and developmental disabilities. But we're right now taking the time to do those consultations"
She says her stop at Hiatus House was inspiring.
"That included Victim Services, indigenous partners, immigration partners as well as the police. So a really strong day here so far in Windsor seeing Ontario's most vulnerable people being lifted up in this city by some really great organizations"
MacLeod is impressed with the facilities at the Unemployed Help Centre.
"What I saw here at the community kitchen was a great collaboration with Employment Ontario, the food bank as well as skills employment for newcomers, so it's a really groundbreaking facility and a great resource for the community so we just wanted to make sure that the rest of the province knows what's happening here"
She deferred questions about proposed changes to class size to the Education Minister.
