They took part in the 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run
Through rain and sun, local law enforcement officers pounded the pavement for this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Officers from Windsor, LaSalle, Amherstburg, the OPP, Ministry of Community Safety, probation and parole, took part in the run to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics.
"Everything hurts right now," laughed Windsor Constable Adam Young.
The run also took place in communities across Ontario. It started about 30 years ago sparking other fundraisers including the Polar Plunge.
"This is what started the whole thing off," says Young.
Although officers were tired, they were also in good spirits knowing their efforts were for a worthy cause.
"My muscles are sore but we just all pull together and lean on one another to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics," says Young.
The Windsor segment of the run is in memory of Senior Constable Troy Klyn who died of a heart attack.
The run ended in Belle River Tuesday afternoon.
