A University of Windsor student is hoping to bring more attention to the plight of birds around the world.
Hani Hallal is a YouTuber and a blogger as well as a self-taught bird trainer.
"I do bird training on our website where we offer free consultation, training — we offer also Skype bird training sessions where I Skype to over 500 bird lovers and bird owners with their problems," says Hallal.
Hallal says the the bird training community in Windsor-Essex is growing and is affecting change globally. He runs Bird Tameness Inc. and says the site has attracted more than 13-million views.
Speaking on AM800's The Morning Drive, Hallal got started with the animal awareness community because he felt there was a need.
"Firstly, I saw a lot of birds that have been mistreated, abandoned, neglected, abused — all that stuff — and I realized there's no bird communities out there that talk about this," says Hallal. "We wanted to raise awareness for animals and rescue birds, parrots and all other animals globally."
Hallal's YouTube page "The Parrot Whisperer" has more than 70,000 ubscribers.
