Leamington Mayor John Paterson says the town has been dreaming about it forever and a day.
Town officials have officially opened the $1.4-million Seacliff Park Amphitheatre along Lake Erie, which is expected to boost tourism.
"Hopefully just blow it right up [tourism] and make it even better than it already is," says Paterson. "We have the hotel and motel amenities for everyone to come and stay."
A ribbon cutting ceremony has taken place Friday at the outdoor theatre, which will host a series of free summer concerts.

It's nestled between Lake Erie and Seacliff Park so concert goers will enjoy views of the lake while listening to music from country, to rock and roll, to the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
Paterson admits the town is changing its image from just being the tomato capital of Canada.
"We won't be just tomatoes," jokes Paterson. "You look around with our greenhouse industry — you have got the cucumbers and the peppers and now the cannabis. Everything is changing in our town and we are adding a little bit of excitement as well."
Located near the amphitheatre are new volleyball courts, a boardwalk, concession stands and washrooms.
The concert series takes place from June to September 2018 and will kick off with the Sheepdogs June 16.
