LaSalle town council has heard its municipality is projected to have the fastest growth rate in Essex County.
Mellor Murray Consulting conducted an economic plan survey in 2018 which included stakeholder interviews, workshops and 453 completed surveys.
It presented it findings to town council last week.
As of 2016, the town had a population of 30,180 people but it is expected to jump to 35,570 by 2031.
In ten years from 2006 to 2016, the population has grown between 3.6 per cent to 5.4 per cent.
About 34.5 per cent of the population is more educated with a university degree and 35% of its households are above average household income (for communities of at least 20,000)
Mayor Marc Bondy says the report shows the town needs more neighbourhoods.
"We have to have more shovel ready lots for residential homes, and that has been a problem from a time point of view because we have to deal with different ministries or government agencies to approve the developments," says Bondy.
The mayor credits the positive report on the direction from past councils.
"We have always been fiscally responsible to have money in reserves so if a project came we could move forward with it, whether we could match federal or provincial funds or whether it is something we had to do on our own," says Bondy.
Bondy tells AM800 News a growing population is always a good sign for a so-called 'bedroom community.'
"It adds pressure in the sense of what we have to maintain, our services, but I think because we have been planning for this growth for such a long time, there is not much pressure on us to develop properly because we are planning properly," says Bondy.
Only 5.6 per cent of its population is living below the poverty line.
