Politicians in Lakeshore now have a better idea of where residents stand on retail cannabis outlets.
An open house was held Monday night at the Atlas Tube Centre to open house to gather public input on retail cannabis stores.
Town council has decided to revisit the issue, nearly a year after voting against allowing a shop in the town.
Mayor Tom Bain says about 30 residents attended and he heard that some want the town to opt-in, while others hope the town sticks with opting-out of allowing an outlet in the town.
Resident Richard Byrne attended the open house and says he doesn't want a shop in the town.
"I was glad to see the {Windsor-Essex County} health unit here given the facts about the display of negative health affects cannabis has on its users. he says.
"I wanted to gauge kind of what decision might be made based on the opinion of people that would show up along side of me."
Byrne says he opposes the retails store because of health concerns.
"I think cannabis use is detrimental to those who use it just like alcohol and smoking tobacco, I don't think there are many health benefits to any of it so I do stand opposed to it," he says.
Last December, Lakeshore council decided to opt out of hosting retail pot shops but are now revisiting the issue.
Across Windsor-Essex, only Lakeshore, LaSalle and Tecumseh opted out of hosting retail cannabis stores.
The issue returns to Lakeshore council on December 10th.
