A delay in a murder trial set to begin in Windsor.
Jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday in the second-degree murder trial of 35-year-old Dia Hanan who is also charged with attempted murder and weapons offences stemming from a 2015 double shooting.
On December 23, 2015, 30-year-old Alekesji Gushaven was found dead at 187 Oak St. and another man Gregory Henriquez suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers had responded to several 9-11 calls about multiple gunshots being fired around 7pm.
The courtroom was packed with potential jurors for the trial but the judge entered the courtroom saying the defence had requested an adjournment due to "new events that happened last week."
There's no word on what "new events" occurred.
As a result, it changes the way the prosecution will handle the case and the judge discharged the jury pool.
After the jurors were released, Justice Kirk Munroe noted he wasn't happy with the way the case was progressing and he wants to 'resolve the case on its merits.'
The case returns to court on Tuesday at 11am for arguments.
Justice Munroe pointed out his next available time period for a trial is in October 2019.
The victim, Alekesji Gushaven had previously been charged with attempted murder for an incident on September 9, 2015 at Howard and Erie where shots were fired from one car to another which was caught on a dashboard camera.
