The Standstills lead guitarist and singer Jonny Fox will be the fourth act to hit the virtual stage for the Front Porch Party Saturday night.
LiUNA! Bluesfest Windsor partnered up with the Canadian Mental Health Association for the free concert series to lift some spirits during the COVID-19 pandemic last month.
So far Trews' lead singer Colin MacDonald, Tea Party frontman Jeff Martin and Billy Raffoul have performed; some tough acts to follow, according to the Oshawa based rocker.
"I'm really happy that I was asked to be a part of it and to be amongst a roster like that feels great, I'm all smiles," he says.
Fox tells AM800 News it's amazing to see that people continue to find ways to connect in isolation.
"Everybody's in the same boat together with the way the world is now," says Fox. "It's a really great opportunity to connect and enjoy music."
The CMHA is promoting its programs during the event, but for Fox's part, he hopes he can just comfort people with music.
"I'm really happy to be a part of that and I really hope that it gets people to relax a little bit and be optimistic towards a brighter future," he says. "I think it's phenomenal and it will help people."
Fox says The Tea Party gave the band its first big break as an opening act, so it wasn't a surprise when Bluesfest Artistic Director and Tea Party drummer Jeff Burrows gave them the call.
He says The Standstills were also a regular on the Windsor music scene, with 89X personality Mark Mackenzie throwing their songs into regular rotation before they were even signed to a major label.
Part four of the YUNITY Porch Party gets underway Saturday night at 8 p.m.
