A Windsor man has pleaded guilty in the death of another man last fall.
Robert Legebow, 20, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 36-year-old Shawn Liddell.
The two men were living in separate units at the Ivy Rose Hotel on Howard Avenue in October 2018.
They were socializing and Legebow wanted Liddell out of his unit, so he wouldn't disturb his father who was sleeping.
A scuffle broke out which spilled out onto the balcony.
Court heard 'the force from Legebow's shove caused Liddell to go backwards over the second story balcony to his death."
"Mr Legebow had no intention to purposefully kill Mr. Shawn Liddell," said Assistant Crown Jayme Lesperance.
Legebow was originally charged with second degree murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
Defence lawyer Elizabeth Craig says there was no intent to kill.
"My client's final push caused him to go over and so the crown and I all agreed, that it was clearly a charge of manslaughter as opposed to second degree murder," says Craig who says Legebow has been a model inmate while in custody, working in the kitchen and doing a lot of school work.
"He was sad and it is tragic for everyone all the way around quite frankly," said Craig.
