A Windsor grandmother is asking for the public's help after a fire destroyed the family's home.
Brenda Nespolon, 58, had hosted her grandson's 1st birthday party on the weekend at 423 Logan Ave near Windsor Stadium.
At the end of the night on Saturday, Nespolon tells AM800 News she had fallen asleep on the couch and woke up to the smell of smoke.
She called out to her son who investigated and found flames in the back of the home.
Everybody managed to escape, but everything was destroyed.
Nespolon had been renting the home for five years and had her son, daughter-in-law, grandson living there and another granddaughter was staying the night.
She did not have renter's insurance and the Red Cross is putting her up in a motel until Tuesday morning. After that, she doesn't know where she will go.
"Just find us a reasonable home to go to," she cries. "That's all we really need right now."
A family friend set up an emergency fundraiser on Facebook to raise money to help the family.
