The fire at Global Pack Packaging Solutions lasted 26 hours
The investigation into the cause of an industrial fire in Kingsville has been put on hold.
Investigator Dave Emberlin from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been on scene this week and has called in structural engineers to support what remains of the roof after Monday’s fire.
"I'm kind of in in a holding pattern now," says Emberlin. "I don't want the roof to collapse when we are in there working."
The 26-hour fire started at Global Pack Packaging Solutions on County Rd. 3 in Kingsville around 6:20am Monday.
Kingsville Fire Chief Chuck Parsons has estimated the damage at $1.25-million.
But Emberlin tells CTV Windsor that number could be a lot higher after his investigation is complete.
"I don't know if I will have to have samples sent to the lab, whether I'm going to have examined by an engineer,” says Emberlin. "The building will have to be torn down and rebuilt."
Emberlin admits his work could take days, weeks or even months to complete.
"I'll have to use a bobcat and start at the entryway, slowly digging our way in and cleaning things out to get to the origin of the fire and try to determine a cause."
