A Windsor family is calling on whomever took some heirloom medals last week, to return them.
The descendants of World War 2 veteran Vince Lazarus say the medals were taken from a College Ave. home during a suspected break and enter on July 16th.
His daughter Theresa McKiney, says the medals were in plain sight.
"They were sitting on top of a folded Canadian flag," she says. "They didn't disturb the flag but they did take the medals, they scooped those up maybe they looked money I don't know."
McKiney says her father stormed the beaches on D-Day when he was in his 20's and paid for his time during the war.

"He suffered for many, many years with nightmares over this," she says. "He didn't tell us a lot of stories but we knew that the medals were a symbol of the freedom that these young men received for this service that they put in for our freedoms."
Grandson Adam McKinley says the medals have no value on the open market.
"I would imagine almost anyone or I would hope would pass that over. It's illegal to sell those so I don't expect people would get much money for them," he says.
Pawn shops in the area have been alerted on the possibility someone tries to cash them in.
The family says if the medals are turned in anonymously to a Legion branch they won't ask any questions.
