The federal government is helping families keep up with inflation by boosting the Canada Child Benefit.
At the YMCA in Chatham, the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development made the announcement.
Jean-Yves Duclos says this is another round of indexing the benefit.

"The cost of living is increasing every year. So we announced last year and we're doing this the second time in two years. We also said we would increase the Canada Child Benefit to account for the fact that everything goes up, every price goes up and that's what we are pleased to do again for the second time in two years."
Duclos denies this is simply a pre-election enticement to voters but recognition of the needs of families.
"Well that helps that family look after their children and the local economy in particular," says Duclos. "But the cost of living is increasing, so they will get an additional $30 starting on July the 20th."
