Sri Lankan police say more than 200 people have been killed while another 450 have been injured

Sri Lankan police say more than 200 people have been killed after a series of blasts hit the country's capital Colombo on Easter Sunday.

Reports say another 450 others have been injured — no word if any Canadians are among the victims.

Sri Lanka's defence minister says seven suspects linked to the blasts have been arrested.

Meantime, Ottawa is warning Canadians in Sri Lanka to limit their movements and avoid affected areas.

A statement from the Diocese of London's Rev. Ronald P. Fabbro:

"Along with the rest of the world, I learned this morning of the shocking and cruel terror attacks in Sri Lanka. Easter Sunday is our most holy day, a joyful day that has turned to tears for the innocents who have been injured and killed. These deliberate assaults were not just against our brothers and sisters but on everyone who values life, love, and peace. Together with Pope Francis, and on behalf of the faithful of the Diocese of London, I condemn these acts of hatred and express our sorrow for the victims and their families."
