More charges have been laid against a Windsor woman who runs a dog rescue service.
The Windsor-Essex County Humane Society has announced three more charges in relation to the alleged neglect of nine dogs under the care of the Royals Animal Rescue Service.
The new charges include failing to provide adequate and appropriate food and water, failing to provide adequate and appropriate sanitary conditions and ventilation and failing to comply with orders issued under the Ontario SPCA Act.
The additional charges are on top of five other charges laid in early June which included two counts of permitting an animal to be in distress, two of failing to provide adequate and appropriate veterinary care and one of failing to comply with orders under the Ontario SPCA Act.
Humane Society Executive Director Melanie Coulter says all nine dogs have now been removed from the home and are receiving medical care.
"While animals were still in the home, our officers continued to follow-up and monitor and continued to have concerns that lead to these charges and their removal," says Coulter.
Along with the additional charges, all nine dogs have now been seized by the humane society and are being held under a court order until the matter is resolved.
The name of the person charged is not being released.
