St. Angela Merici Church and Hall on Erie St. is on unstable ground.
The Diocese of London recently sent a letter informing the 1,200 parishioners of a combined debt of over $1.3-million.
The letter explains the majority of the debt comes from the community hall which was rebuilt in 2005.
Luigi Mariani has a business nearby and tells CTV Windsor he's hoping for the best.
"I'm hoping that it will be worked out and I believe it will be worked out," he says. "This is our church, our pillar and I want to see it continue with the next generation."
According to Fil Rocca of the Erie St. BIA, his organization will be lending a hand, telling CTV Windsor, "Erie St. has been very busy, lots of investment going on down here, so there's no reason that hall isn't busier. We're going to help promote it and hopefully bring some more functions there."
The last thing they want to do is close the church or hall, says Dave Savel of the Diocese of London .
"There are no plans for closure of either," he tells CTV Windsor. "The purpose of this is to try and improve the situation and make it better and turn things around."
