Shock and disappointment is being expressed after it was learned a woman convicted of a 2009 murder will be transferred from prison to a healing lodge in Saskatchewan.
Terri-Lynne McClintic was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of eight-year-old Tori Stafford in 2010 — she was sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 25 years.
Ontario's correctional services minister, Michael Tibollo told the legislature on Tuesday that he will be speaking with federal officials about the decision involving McClintic.
Stafford's grandmother says Correctional Service Canada notified her family of McClintic's move to the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge.
The lodge is run by Correctional Service Canada and is for offenders that require a minimum to medium security level.
Stafford's father Rodney, has expressed his frustration at the move, saying on Facebook that McClintic gets her life back in multiple ways but his family will never see Tori again.
