The University of Windsor is celebrating Homecoming on Saturday.
The Centerpiece of the festivities revolves around the football team, which is celebrating 50 years.
Head Coach Joe D'Amore, who played for Mike Morencie in the 90's, took over from him in 2012.
"I've always used the motto you can't be too big to do the little things," says D'Amore. "If I'm the head coach and if the water needs to come out then I take the water out, if someone else is busy, I learned that from him [Morencie], he did those things and I loved playing for him."
"You can't always win as much as you want to win but you can part enough guidance and leadership all the time," says Mike Morencie, who coached the team from 1998-2011.
Over the 50 year history of the program, there have only been four coaches - the late Gino Fracas, John Musselman, Mike Morencie and Joe D'amore - Morenci has ties to each of them.
"I played for Gino, I was an assistant coach with Gino, I was here as an assistant coach with John Musselman and I coached Joe and Joe coached with me for a year so I've had a real neat connection all the way through the timeline"
At 10am on Saturday, there will be a 50th Anniversary of Lancer Football Brunch at the St. Denis Centre, followed by the Lancers taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues at Alumni Field at 1pm.
