Dr. Theresa Tam says any nonessential trips should be cancelled or postponed

Canada's chief public health officer says Canadians should not travel outside the country unless they have to, out of concern over the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a news conference Friday afternoon, Dr. Theresa Tam says any non-essential trip should be cancelled or postponed.

Besides the risk of catching or spreading the novel coronavirus, Tam says there's a danger of getting caught in a travel ban or quarantine abroad.
