A Windsor man is going to jail for a crash where police found guns and ammunition.
Satvir Singh, 23, has been sentenced to two-years-less-a-day in jail and three years probation after earlier pleading guilty to three weapons-related offences including possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
On April 26, 2017, Singh was the driver of a Lexus involved in a head-on crash on Highway 3 in Tecumseh between Sexton Side Rd. and Walker Rd.
While emergency crews were helping the occupants of the Lexus, they found two guns and ammunition which caused panic at the scene.
Singh was found with a bandolier or sash of bullets around his chest containing 25 shotgun shells.
In handing down his sentence, Justice Lloyd Dean said it is not clear what Singh was up to that day, but it clearly wasn't good.
Singh was also under the influence of drugs.
"He is very remorseful, " says Singh's lawyer Maria Carroccia. "He regrets ever having involved himself in something like this."
When asked where Singh was headed, Carroccia replied, "I can't tell you for certain where he was going. I know there have been reports about St. Clair College and I can tell you that he was not going there."
She says her client is satisfied with the sentence as he was aware from the beginning that these kinds of offences attract jail sentences.

After the sentence was handed down, Singh hugged five members of his family who were in court to support him.
The co-accused in the case, Tariq Elamin of Toronto, pleaded not guilty and his trial is still before the courts.
