An investigation will soon be underway in Amherstburg.
At a special council meeting on Monday, town council agreed to allow the town's Integrity Commissioner to look into a breach of a confidentiality.
Bruce Elman will investigate council members, to see where the alleged breach occurred.
The violation happened between September 10th and 13th after an in-camera meeting dealing with the upcoming police change.
Amherstburg Police Board Chair Bob Rozankovic says he received the confidential information from the in-camera meeting and notified council and town CAO John Miceli on Wednesday September 13th through email.
"I was informed on some information that I didn't like was in council's hands," says Rozankovic. "I thought pearly in the purview of the police board. I sent an email to council and to the CAO saying it was disconcerting that this information was out there. It had to do with the employment status of individuals who are employees of the board."
Councillor Rick Fryer says Rozankovic caused a breach by sharing the information with two councillors (Deputy Mayor Bart DiPasquale & councillor Diane Pouget) who declared a conflict on the matter.
"When that email came out to council, he included those two people that declared a conflict and then caused a breach of confidentially with council by providing them information that they should have never even been privy too," says Fryer.
Council also voted to hire a third-party independent investigator to investigate administration members who sat in during the in-camera meeting.
