Victim impact statements have concluded in the second degree murder and arson trial of 27-year-old Matthew Brush.
He has been convicted in the December 2014 killing of Cassandra Kaake and setting the apartment on fire at her Benjamin Ave home.
Among the 18 emotional statements were members of the Kaake family including her mother and father as well as two sisters.
The father of Kaake's unborn child Molly and several members of his family also spoke.
Jeff Durham remembers being at his home just blocks away as she was being killed and hearing sirens.
He explained how he was treated as the suspect for weeks until Brush was arrested and charged.
Durham ended by saying he was the one with a life sentence with no chance of parole.
Brush's mother, Margaret Zavitz, also addressed the court..
She apologized to the Kaake and Durham families and told the court Brush had always been kind.
Sentencing submissions will be made Friday morning.
