Venus Williams is moving into the semifinals at Flushing Meadows

Venus Williams has done it again.

The 37-year-old Williams reached her third major semifinal of the season, edging two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (2) at the U-S Open.

Williams will play unseeded Sloane Stephens in the first all-American women's semifinal in New York since 2002.

Karolina Pliskova puts her world-number-one ranking on the line as she takes on 20th-seeded American Coco Vandeweghe in the quarter-finals at the U-S Open today. Pliskova needs to advance to the final at Flushing Meadows to keep the top spot in the W-T-A. A loss today would give Spain's Garbine Muguruza the number-one ranking.

Roger Federer is just three wins away from his 20th career Grand Slam title. He'll hope to inch closer to that goal as he plays Juan Martin del Potro in quarter-final action tonight. In the early men's quarter-final, top-seeded Rafael Nadal will be challenged by 19-year-old Andrey Rublev of Russia.
