One of the University of Windsor's most famous professors is being honoured on campus.
A section of what used to be Patricia Road is now Alistair MacLeod Walk.
MacLeod family members and former colleagues were present for the dedication of a plaque in front of Dillon Hall, where MacLeod taught most of his classes.
His son Alexander gave a moving remembrance of his dad and Dr. Thomas Dillworth recalled some of the humorous stories MacLeod would tell.
Alexander MacLeod says it's a wonderful and fitting way to remember his dad.

"We appreciate that he gave his life to this university and his best energies came through here." sais MacLeod, "and I think it's great the University of Windsor recognizes how much the university meant to him"
Alexander MacLeod says his dad may not have been much of a walker during his life, but the location is special:
His widow Anita MacLeod is pleased to have Alistair honoured this way.

"This means a great deal to us" said MacLeod,"the University of Windsor meant so much to my husband, and it was his life, teaching. He was known as a writer, but his real life was the students and the work here) "
MacLeod passed away in April 2014 having spent more than 3 decades teaching English and creative writing.
He is also an award winning author, his best known work is "No Great Mischief" which won multiple awards.
A plaque has been placed on the walk in front of Dillon Hall, where MacLeod walked to class each day.
