The University of Windsor is joining the e-sports craze.
The Lancer Gaming program officially launched its inaugural 2020 season with tryouts for this year's team.
Teams members will be announced the week of October 26 and, if eligible, will receive $1,500.
While the official team wasn't been picked just yet, Lancer Gaming saw its first action with a League of Legends' match up against the Trent Excalibur on October 8 posting a 2-0 victory.
Next up for the Lancers, a match against the Carlton Ravens on October 22 at 8pm.
The university is the second local post-secondary institution to join the e-sports circuit — St. Clair College launched Saints Gaming in 2017.
