Windsor has lost a basketball legend.
University of Windsor Men's Basketball coach Paul "Doc" Thomas died Nov. 2, he was 91 years old.
Thomas, who was also a human kinetics professor at the school, spent 20-years at the helm for the Lancers from 1969 to 1991.
He was known for substituting all-five-players regularly for a set of fresh legs during games. The unorthodox "platoon system" garnered OUAA Championships in 1970-71, 1972-73, and 1978-79.
Thomas received coach of the year honours twice over his career, and is in the University of Windsor Alumni Sports Hall of Fame.
He was also inducted into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame.
