After being commissioned as a US Navy ship, the USS Detroit will cross the river for its first international visit.
The ship will be docked at Dieppe Gardens October 24-28.
An official welcoming ceremony is planned for noon on the 24th with a number of activities and dignitaries on hand.
Retired Captain, Gordon Cole, is part of the Commissioning Committee for the USS Detroit and says the stop is significant as it is the ship's first international port call.
Cole says after the ship leaves Windsor, it will travel to it's home port in Florida.
