Commercial vehicles using the tunnel to cross the border from Detroit to Windsor should soon find it faster.
Two legacy scales are being replaced with new, state-of-the-art Weigh in Motion scales.
The new system will also upgrade commercial tolling from card based to transponders, helping to speed traffic along.
The work is scheduled for completion by mid November at a cost of approximately $125,000.
No interruptions in traffic are expected.
A similar system is under review for installation on the Tunnel's Windsor plaza.
