A new four year deal is now official for the Windsor University Faculty Association.
Members voted 93% in favour of a contract that president Jeff Noonan says didn't result in any major concessions.
"We've made no major concessions," Noonan says. "We didn't get everything we wanted, but we've got incremental gains for all the various constituencies in the union, so we're very pleased."
He told AM800 News the deal is on par with what other faculty associations have received.
"We've got very important new language around harassment in the workplace, we've got a very important new benefit in-terms-of critically ill child leave, we've achieved our goals in terms of compensation," says Noonan.
Noonan didn’t get into specific numbers, but says members are happy with compensation, changes benefits, and work place safety.
Faculty didn’t get everything they wanted, but Noonan says they’re pleased an agreement has been reached without a work stoppage coming into a new school year.
"We're very pleased that we were able to get a very good collective agreement without any disruption," Noonan says. "We can start the school year on time because ultimately we depend upon the students for the vitality of the institution. We're educators by vocation."
The agreement was four-months in the making. Noonan thanked the WUFA bargaining team and UWindsor administration for all their hard work.
