Spitfires fans were treated to a Taylor Hall bobble-head and a win over the Erie Otters at the WFCU Centre Sunday.
Windsor retired Hall's number 4 and did it in style rolling over the Otters 7-3 behind a pair of 2-goal efforts from Tyler Angle and Cody Morgan.
Erie struck early in the first on Kyle Maksimovich's 27th goal of the year before Angle netted his first of the game to close out the period locked-up 1-1.
Windsor poured it on in the second with goals from Mathew MacDougall and Curtis Douglas to open the period. Cody Morgan scored his first of two and Angle added his second of the game less than a minute apart to pull the Spitfires ahead 5-1 heading into the third.
The Otters answered back with a pair of goals from Josh Wainman and Hayden Fowler to make it 5-3, but Windsor's Luke Kutkevicius pulled the game further out of reach with his 10th marker of the year before Morgan deposited his second of the game for a 7-3 final.
Angle — who earned first star of the game honours — says bouncing back from a weak first period made the difference.
"Everybody came in after our first period, which was a little weak, but we came out in the second period hard on the fore-check and into the third period, got our opportunities and bared down on them," says Angle. "Mikey [DiPietro] played really good in the back, that helped us a lot and we came out with the win."
Igor Larionov set up both goals for Angle, something he says he's getting used to.
"He sees the ice really well, and obviously Douglas is a big body that gets the puck open for us and gets in the corners quick," he says. "It pops out to Larry [Larionov] and I'm just kind of looking for ice to score some goals."
The Sudbury Wolves visit the WFCU Centre Thursday at 7:05pm. Tune into AM800 for all the action.
