Environment Canada has ended both the Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Wind Warning for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
Hydro crews remain on scene across Windsor-Essex with upwards of 2,000 customers in Windsor and 2,000 customers in LaSalle still without power.
Crews are reported to be on scene in all areas but restoration times are unknown.
Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says wind gusts earlier today were clocked at 110km/hour.
"We had a gust at 60 knots, that's about 110-111km/hour and with a thunderstorm that came through, that is really responsible for the bulk of the damage no question about it," says Kimball.
He adds, this type of weather is not unusual during this time of the year, Kimball says "these kinds of winds do occur in convection this is summer time convection we are seeing it early May but it is summer time convection which does happen in these types of scenarios."
Windsor police are reorting that Ottawa St. at Marentette Ave. will be closed for several hours due to downed power lines.
