Damage is estimatedĀ at $150,000 after an apartment fire in Windsor.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says the first floor unit sustained $75,000 inĀ damages while the remainder of the building has smoke and water damage causing an additional $75,000 in damages.
The fire broke out around 6pm on Monday at 410 Giles Blvd. W at the corner of Church St.
Nobody was home at the time but firefighters did find two dead cats.
The Red Cross is assisting one man who has been left homeless.
Station 1 District Chief Don Easby says the fire was put out quickly, but damage is extensive.
"We got a call from one of the occupants for smoke on the first floor. We arrived on scene and we had smoke showing from the rear of the building from a first floor window. Crews went in and found the fire in Unit 104 on the first floor. They were able to extinguish it quickly. I haven't been in, but I've heard from the crews that the apartment is gutted. The smoke was almost to the floor."

He says, luckily, all residents in the adjoining units were able to get out safely.
"All the occupants, the alarms were going off, the alarms were sounding in the building, they all self evacuated and they were out front when we arrived on scene and everything went textbook, pretty smooth. There is one tenant from the fire unit and he is displaced. He won't be able to go back in."
Easby says the Red Cross is taking care of one man who has been left homeless.
