Police are investigating a murder in downtown Windsor.
Windsor Police Services were called to an apartment building at 395 University Ave. E. near McDougall St. around 4am Saturday to find a man dead and showing, "obvious signs of trauma."
Major Crimes confirmed they're heading up the investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.
A resident of the building, who preferred not to be named, tells AM800 News he was already up, but his children were scared by police knocking on doors at 5:30am.
"They are swarming everywhere around the building ... in the garden area and two police officers are making a video of the area, not sure what they're looking at," he says.
Even if there was something to hear overnight, he says many people likely wouldn't have investigated — ignoring noise from the courtyard is the only way to get any sleep.
"There's always screaming outside in the courtyard area where the garden is, there's always drunk people walking around and doing drugs, it's not a nice neighbourhood," he says. "We try to just stick to ourselves and don't talk to anybody and don't look at anybody and they don't bother us."
This is Windsor's eighth murder-investigation of 2018. Most recently, 18-year-old Darrion Moffatt from Windsor died after being shot at a home on Hall Ave. on Sept. 8. Two Windsor men, 18-year-old Raul Huezo and 19-year-old Cody Kennedy, have been charged with first degree murder in relation to Moffatt's death.
