The investigation into a massive industrial fire in Kingsville is now complete.
A blaze ripped through Global Pack Solutions on County Rd. 3 Monday at 6:20am — firefighters from across Essex County were called in to battle the fire for more than 26-hours.
Ontario Fire Marshall Inspector Dave Emberlin says, "the cause of the fire is an accidental electrical failure from a metal halide light bulb."
Emberlin tells AM800 News the large industrial-bulbs can release molten glass at extremely high temperatures if they fail.
"The temperature of that glass can be 900 to 1,100 degrees-Celsius, so it's a competent ignition source and it will actually retain some thermal energy through a 9-meter fall and light combustibles," says Emberlin.
An exact estimate on damage without knowing how much product was in the building is hard to determine, according to Emberlin.
"I have no idea how much the value of the product that Global Pack had stored in the warehouse, but it's extensive," he added.
Kingsville Fire Chief Chuck Parsons has total damages pegged at around $1.25-million.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire.
