The OPP's Underwater Search and Recovery Unit is enroute as the search continues for a missing canoeist in Lake Erie in Kingsville.
Police says the canoe capsized around 5pm on Sunday in the waters, east of Essex County Road 45.
The 25-year-old Kingsville man was fishing alone in the canoe when his friends on shore saw the canoe was capsized.
"He didn't resurface," says OPP Constable Jim Root. "We started an extensive search last night and it was called off around 10pm due to weather conditions and darkness."
The man is believed to be a non-swimmer and was not wearing a life jacket.
The divers are expected to arrive around 3pm.
Constable Root says it is a tragic way to start the summer.
"It seems that once or twice at this time of year, we have something like this to have report on and it very unfortunate. We hope we can bring this to a conclusion sooner than later, for the benefit of the family."
The OPP has set up a mobile command unit at the Leamington Marina to co-ordinate the search.
